About Capital Home Veterinary Care

Capital Home Veterinary Care was founded by Dr. Erin Dexter DVM in 2007.

Dr. Dexter is a 2003 graduate of the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association,  Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and VIN (Veterinary Information Network).

Dr. Dexter grew up on a farm in New England with many horses, goats, chickens, dogs and cats. She has worked as a small animal and equine veterinarian since graduation. She lives in Powhatan with her husband Matt, their two daughters Sydney and Abigail, their Rhodesian Ridgeback Reuben, and three kitties Manny, Minny and Stewart.

In 2007, after years of practicing in veterinary hospitals, Dr. Dexter founded Capital Home Veterinary Care LLC, a house call practice, with the goal of providing quality veterinary care at an affordable price in the comfort of home.
